Our hearts and prayers go out to our friends and classmates Ronnie and Jaime Quest (and their family)in the loss of there precious daughter.  And Sandi (Palmer) Holub and E.J. who are her aunt and uncle.

When some tells me how they are hurting and how they feel their heart doesn't smile anymore I know what they are saying.  I do know where Chris is but my heart hurts so because I do live in this world and I do miss him more than any words can express.  If you are hurting and want to just talk I am always here because I do know what that over powering pain is for those of us left behind.

James Edward Barbee

Avalanche-Journal

Thursday, April 15, 2010
Story last updated at 4/14/2010 - 5:04 pm

A celebration to commemorate the life of James Edward "Eddie" Barbee will be held at Gardski's, 2009 Broadway in Lubbock, at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 18, 2010 with contributions of memories from many of his family and friends.

James E. Barbee was born on Oct. 11, 1946 in Lubbock to Edward and Mary Barbee, and lived much of his life in the area. He passed from this life in the early morning hours of April 6, 2010, at a hospital near his home in Central Texas.

He is survived by his father, Edward of Lubbock; sister, Jeanne Barbee of Lubbock; loving wife, Sue Barbeee; one son, Kendall Barbee and wife Elaine of St. Louis, Mo.; and step-daughter, Sherrill Warford. Additionally, he was a loving grandfather, uncle, great-uncle and godfather to many children, not just from his own immediate family.

He was a Child Protective Services Specialist for the State of Arizona, an actor in film and television commercials, and a free-lance writer. His often acerbic "Letters to the Editor" were a somewhat regular occurrence in the Avalanche-Journal. Many local residents will remember him from his work at the Lubbock Independent School District. He also worked for Community Psychology and Education Services of Tempe, Ariz. Barbee was a proud 1965 Graduate of Monterey High School. He attended Texas Tech, Del Mar College and South Plains College. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Education in 1994 and a Master of Education Psychology degree in 1995, both from Wayland Baptist University in Lubbock.

In accordance with his wishes, the body of James Edward Barbee will be cremated, and his ashes spread throughout the world.
